Lazaro Borges was making his first attempt of the Olympics at 5.35 meters (approximately 17.5 feet) and on his way up his pole suddenly snapped into three large pieces with smaller ones flying in the air.
A loud groan was made by the audiences.
After that Borges calmly picked the pieces of his pole and exited silently. Fortunately no injuries happened.
Sad to say this, Cuban player didn't qualify to the finals after missing his three attempts at 5.60 meters.
