Uncurable dengue-like disease in the Philippines

Local health officials warned people about a dengue-like disease that just hit some places in the Philippines.

The Department of Health (DOH) said that there were more than 1000 confirmed cases of the mosquito-borne disease called the Chikungunya last year. Currently, there are more than 150 combined cases in Cagayan De Oro, Pangasinan and Metro Manila.

World Health Organization (WHO) said that Chikungunya is a disease that is transmitted by human to human by the bites of a female mosquito. WHO added that this disease is oftentimes mistaken as Dengue as it causes fever and severe joint pain. Symptoms include muscle pain, headache, nausea, fatigue, and rash.

What's worst this disease has no cure and the best thing that doctors can do is to relieve the symptoms.

The DOH advised everyone to be cautious with the environment and always wear insect repellant.
