Korean film emerges as the big winner in the 69th Venice Film Fest

The South Korean film entitled "Pieta" won the highest award in the 69th Venice Film Festival, the "Golden Lion Award".


Kim Ki Duk, the director of "Pieta" received the award and belted a Korean folk song to thank the judges.

"Pieta" is a film that features a young loan shark whose dirty life was transformed by a woman who claimed that she was his mother.

On the other hand, "The Silver Lion" was awarded to the film "The Master"  while their film lead Philip Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin Phoenix, shared the best actor prize. Paul Anderson the film's director bagged he "Best Actor" prize.

Hadas Yaron won the "Best Actress" award for the film "Fill the Void".

The "Special Jury" prize went to the "Paradise: Faith" which focuses on the story of a Catholic woman who is married to a Muslim guy.
