Lifeguards fired because of "Gangnam Style" parody

"Gangnam Style" none of us don't know it. It's everywhere, parodies of the video also mushroomed.


There are some parodies that also became very popular and the makers also rose into fame.

But, it's the other way around for the lifeguards of the  El Monte Aquatic Center and their manager. All 14 of them were fired, because of making the parody of the said dance craze.

The video features the Lifeguard of El Monte Aquatic Center rubbing sunscreen with each other, synchronized swimming, fooling in the shower and many more while the music "Gangnam Style" plays.

Southern California city of El Monte said that the "Lifeguard Style" video is a clear violation of rules about the usage of city property.

The video hit 3,000 videos on it's first day, but went viral when they the news of firing the employees broke.


As he video continues to spread. People supported the group. A petition asking the officials of the said Aquatic Center to give back the employees their jobs  was created and the Facebook Fanpage likes rose to 16000.

During the hearing while the employees are fighting for their jobs, people gathered to support the group and a viewing area was set for the supporters.

However, some community supported the decision of the officials and said that the lifeguards should have followed the rules.

The officials will open the investigation to an independent party to loon on this matter.
