Roach-eating contest winner dies after competition

A Florida man died after he won bizarre food eating contest held by a local pet store.

32-year-old Edward Archbold signed-up to the "Eat  Bugs for Balls" competition at the Ben Siegel Reptile Store in Deerfield Beach, where the staff promised a female ivory ball python for the winner.

After eating more than a dozen of the served bugs and worms, Archbold threw up and collapsed. Later he was pronounced dead.

Through their Facebook Fanpage, the company explained that as of now, the autopsy details were not yet known.
Thank you for participating in our Midnight Madness experience. Many of you have reached out to ask about the details surrounding Eddie Archbold's passing the night of the Midnight Madness sale, but at this point we are not aware of any specific details. All we know is that sadly he has passed on. Please respect the privacy of the family as they try to determine what happened. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Eddie's family in this terrible time. Although we just met Eddie the night of the sale, we all liked him right away. All of us here at Ben Siegel Reptiles are sad that we will not get to know Eddie better, for in the short time we knew him, he was very well liked by all.
The atorney of the company clarified that all the bugs served were all cultured and used to feed the reptiles.
