Kabang will be receiving a maxillo-facial reconstructive surgery at the University of California-Davis Vet. Medical Teaching Hospital for her snout that she lost when she used her body to shield the kids form the ranging motorcycle.
Donations from people coming from more than 20 countries have reached $22,000 USD more than the needed $20,000.
Kabang will also be under anti-biotics for 10 months to strengthen her immune system.
Kabang's veterinarian Dr. Anton Mari Lim said that the surgery needs to be done to prevent infections to the wounds. Karen Kenngott, US coordinator of the Animal Welfare Coalition explained that "Fungal infections can be especially difficult to eradicate and any infection in the bone can be a lengthy process to treat at best. Her chances are better the sooner she can get those wounds closed."
