The president of the Philippines, Benigno Aquino III declared the alt Fernando Poe Jr., as of the national artist.
The national artist award is one of the highest award that one could get. People to got this award will receive medals, medication support and cash money.
Under the Proclamation No. 1069, dated May 23, 2006, Aquino confirms this award to FPJ. The proclamation said: "Pursuant to the authority vested in me by law, I, Benigno S. Aquino III, President of the Philippines, do hereby confirm the declaration of Ronald Allan K. Poe a.k.a. Fernando Poe Jr. (Posthumous) as National Artist as conferred in Proclamation No. 1069, dated May 23, 2006."
In may 2006, the former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo already confirmed this award to FPJ, but the wife, Susan Roces rejected it and accused of stealing the presidency "not once, but twice".
